Gantt Forge is Gantt, Kanban, calendar, dashboards, meeting notes and branded PowerPoint, PDF and Excel reports for one project or a whole portfolio — in one app that runs entirely in your browser, with backups and exports encrypted with a password when they leave it. No account. Works offline. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Simple on the surface, deep underneath: 100+ features, from a single plan to a whole portfolio, all one click from a clean table.
Type "Design spec due Friday assigned to Amy" and the dates, owner and priority fill in. Move with the arrow keys, paste from Excel, and track budget and actuals. Or import Excel, CSV or MS Project.
Drag a task on its own or with every task linked after it. Link tasks with a right-click, reorder rows with a grip, assign several people. Critical path, baselines and what-if scenarios included.
The printable Gantt with a title block: project name and code, start → finish, and a target banner that turns red when the plan runs late. Hover any row to read its notes.
The same tasks as cards in status columns, or on a month calendar. Drag to reschedule.
Colour-coded tiles for health, progress, overdue, the week ahead and spend against budget. Click any tile to jump to the tasks behind it. Monte Carlo finish risk and a plain-English weekly brief.
Minutes for every catch-up: attendees, decisions and action items that become tasks. Unfinished actions carry over. Add the minutes to your PDF, Excel and PowerPoint exports when you choose.
Group projects into departments or programmes. Export a whole space, or everything, as one PowerPoint, PDF or Excel file: a dashboard, a one-page report and a dollar summary for every project.
A multi-page project pack — cover, summary, dated Gantt with dependency arrows, schedule risk — in your colours, fonts and logo.
Load a PowerPoint template, a brand pack or a brand skill once. Every export matches, logo included at its true shape. Share it with the team as one file.
Up to 10 people edit the same plan through a shared Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive or network folder. Everything written there is encrypted, and extra people can watch.
Combine several plans or files into one programme Gantt and re-sync it from the sources on demand.
Hover any button to see what it does. Explain mode, a guided tour, and step-by-step guides for dragging, budgets, meeting notes, live folders and portfolio exports.
A guided tour and step-by-step help are built in — but this is all it takes.
Type them in plain English on the Table, or drop in an Excel / CSV file. Phases, dates and owners are picked out for you.
Drag bars on the Timeline, drag cards on the Board — the same tasks, whichever way your team thinks.
One click gives you a branded PowerPoint, PDF or Excel for one project, or every project in a space. The Dashboard writes the weekly status for you.
Your projects stay on your device and open instantly — no account, no passphrase to type every day. Whenever your plans leave the app, as a backup, an export or a synced file, they can be encrypted with a password only you know.
Every backup, space pack, project file or handoff package asks first: encrypt it with a password, or leave it readable. Encrypted files use AES-256-GCM.
Each file's key comes from your password through PBKDF2-SHA-256 with 600,000 iterations and a fresh random salt. We never see the password and cannot recover it.
Save a file password once and every automatic backup and synced-folder file is written encrypted — and opens again on your device without asking.
The app opens straight to your work. Projects are kept in your browser's own storage on your device, like any installed app keeps its files.
The browser itself blocks the app from contacting any server you haven't approved, and nothing is loaded from anywhere else — no trackers, no third parties.
Read-only links open in a sandbox with no scripts, so a link cannot reach the projects stored in whoever opens it.
Plainly, the limits: projects on your device are not encrypted, so anyone who can use your computer and browser can open them; files you choose to export unencrypted, and reports such as PowerPoint or PDF, can be read by whoever has them; and an encrypted file is only as strong as its password.
This is the whole privacy story, and you can verify it yourself in the app (Help → "Your data stays here").
Projects live in your browser's storage. Back up with one encrypted file; restore anywhere. Nothing is uploaded.
The app makes zero third-party requests — no analytics, no fonts from a CDN, nothing. The site is the same.
Backups, exports and sync files can be encrypted with your password, and with Gantt Forge+ everything is encrypted on your device with a passphrase the server never sees.
MIT licence. Read the code, host it yourself, keep it forever.
Gantt Forge, plus a private cloud copy and real-time collaboration on a server you trust — with your plans encrypted before they leave your device.
Yes. Gantt Forge is free software under the MIT licence — every feature, unlimited projects, forever. Gantt Forge+ (the hosted team tier) is the paid product; the free app never depends on it.
In your browser's storage on your device. Nothing leaves your device unless you do it: backups and sync files are always encrypted, JSON exports can be, and anything that isn't — a PowerPoint, a PDF, a share link, a copy — tells you so first. Nothing readable is sent to other services.
Files encrypted with it cannot be opened by anyone, including us — that is what makes them secure. Your projects on the device are unaffected. Keep file passwords in a password manager.
From 1.17 the app no longer locks your device copy. The first time you open it, enter your 1.16 passphrase (or recovery code) once; your projects are moved to normal browser storage and it will not ask again. Backups encrypted by 1.16 still open with the passphrase that was in use when they were made.
Yes — after the first visit it works fully offline and can be installed as an app. Or download the offline copy and open it from your disk.
Yes, for free. Put a folder everyone can reach on a shared drive (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive for desktop, or a network drive), link it in Gantt Forge, and choose one file password for the team. One person clicks Start live on a project, the others click Join a live project, and everyone sees each other's changes within seconds. Up to 10 people can edit at once, and anyone beyond that can watch until a seat frees up. There's no server or account, and everything written to the folder is encrypted. Works in Chrome, Edge and Opera.
Yes. Each project has a Notes tab for minutes from catch-ups, stand-ups, 1:1s and reviews: who attended, the agenda, what was discussed, decisions and action items with an owner and due date. One click turns an action item into a task, and ticking the action done completes the task. Unfinished actions and the attendee list carry over to the next catch-up, and Insert project status adds what finished, what is overdue and what is due soon. Notes are saved with the project — in your backups, encrypted exports and live shared folders — and you can copy the minutes or download them as a Markdown file.
Yes, if you want them to. In the Notes tab, ⚙ In exports has a separate switch for each kind of export, and all start off. PDF / Print adds a Meeting notes section: open action items, recent decisions, and the latest meetings. Excel adds Meeting notes and Action items sheets. The PowerPoint deck gets a Meeting Notes slide showing the latest catch-up beside every open action. Space at a glance adds a Latest catch-up page for each project. These files aren't encrypted, so check the minutes before you share them. The minutes are always kept with the project in your backups either way.
Yes. Group projects into spaces, such as departments or programmes. Then export one space, or every space, as a single PowerPoint, PDF or Excel file. It includes a cover showing how many projects are on track, an overview and a dollar summary across projects, and a timeline. Each project gets its own dashboard and a one-page Report view, grouped by space. With a Brand Kit or brand skill loaded, the PowerPoint and PDF use your colours, fonts and logo.
Yes — MS Project XML, Excel, CSV, and JSON, plus Jira/Asana/Trello exports. It exports to all of those and to PowerPoint, PDF and Word.
